ABOUT NOVAHAUZ
Our Origin
Novahauz started in 2023 when Lindsey Daniel, a newly graduated architect, crossed paths with contractor Sean Westraad on a small project. Very quickly, we ran into the same issue from different sides, there was always a gap between design and construction, where details got lost, decisions came too late, and time was spent fixing what could have been avoided from the start.
On that first project together, things naturally started to shift. Sean was involved on site from the beginning, and suddenly design decisions were grounded in how things would actually be built. Problems were picked up early, costs made sense sooner, and the process started to feel more aligned instead of fragmented.
That project changed how we thought about working entirely, and made it clear that this wasn’t just a better way to deliver a project, it was the way we wanted to work going forward. One team, from the start, and that’s how Novahauz began.
Our Name
At the start of building the practice, the name carried real weight for us. We didn’t want something decorative or trend-driven, we wanted something that felt grounded, memorable, and slightly unfamiliar, while still being simple and honest in meaning.
Novahauz comes from the combination of nova, meaning “new,” and haus, meaning “house.” At its simplest, it speaks to what we do: creating new homes. But the meaning goes a little deeper than that. It reflects the idea of new beginnings, spaces that mark a shift in someone’s life, whether that’s starting fresh, building upward, or rethinking the way they live.
For us, Novahauz is less about the building itself, and more about the people it’s built for. We work closely with those we design for, shaping homes around their habits, their taste, and the way they want to live day to day. Our role is to carry the full process, from early design through to construction, so that the experience feels considered and contained, without the usual fragmentation that makes building a home stressful.

Consultation
We begin on site, understanding how you want to live in your space. This allows us to read the site properly and align early with construction realities. From this, we define a clear project brief — your needs, priorities, and direction.

Concept & Design Direction
With a clear brief, we shape the design direction. Ideas are explored, tested, and refined — focusing on spatial flow and architectural intent. The outcome is a concept that feels considered, practical, and aligned with your vision.

Materials & Finishes
We guide material and finish selections early, ensuring every choice is buildable and intentional. Whether together or through curated options, selections are made with clarity — from flooring to lighting and surfaces.

3D Visualisation
We develop the design through detailed modelling and 3D visualisation. This allows you to experience the space before it’s built, with clear, evolving representations as decisions are made.

Cost Alignment & Feasibility
We coordinate supplier and subcontractor pricing to establish a clear and realistic project cost. A full BOQ is compiled once materials are confirmed, ensuring transparency and alignment between design and budget.

Supervision & Execution
We manage the build on site, coordinating contractors and ensuring quality and timelines are maintained. Working as one team allows for faster decisions, fewer delays, and a consistent outcome from start to finish.
